NUIG Medical Society, better known as MedSoc, is a student body elected by students to support and advocate for the interests of medical students, and anyone with an interest in the medical field. Our goal is to ensure that students have a platform to share experience, knowledge and new ideas with the aim of enriching the student experience in Galway.
MedSoc acts as an efficient liaison between the students and the faculty. As well as this, we organise educational seminars, information evenings and academic events to make sure you get exactly what you want from your course.
Your Medical School
MedSoc are involved with other societies (such as VSA, SurgSoc and SláinteSoc) for charitable, social and academic events. We aim to create opportunities for students to participate, volunteer and network in many different areas of the healthcare profession.
NUIG MedSoc is part of the Association of Medical Students in Ireland (AMSI), an organization that represents all medical students at a national level. The NUIG MedSoc AMSI representative provides opportunities for NUIG medical students to engage in conferences, workshops, educational and leadership projects run by AMSI both nationally and internationally.
Your College Experience
We're students too, so we understand the challenges that students face. We aim to encourage a holistic approach to medicine by organising events that address academic, social, physical and mental health matters.
