Meet the team!
Auditor Semester 1
One half of our classy, sassy duo of auditors.
She’d like to think she’s the leader of the pack, the king of the jungle, the cream of the crop but we just see her as auntie Lynam who feeds us sweets. Outside of Medsoc she loves dancing and buttons.
All jokes aside, this girl is responsible for overseeing the society in general and making sure everyone knows she’s the queen of Medsoc. Oh, and she’s got the most adorable snort, let’s hope she can help us dance our way through this Semester.
Auditor Semester 2
Welcome the other half of our sassy duo, bringing some Canadian spice to Semester 2.
Ready to follow in his big brother’s footsteps, no doubt he’ll do a gouda job.
Outside of Medicine, he loves dogs and pizza. He is our talented Delegator who can role his tongue (whatever that means) and his biggest fear is being buried alive.
Ellen is our multi-tasking, note-taking, sweet-taking secretary year!
She is responsible for keeping things running; booking rooms, events, meetings and keeping her eyes on those emails.
Raised in the depths of Sligo, this girl was born into music; her main passion outside of medicine.
Gotta keep an eye on her though for fear she’d cart off our money and splurge on a nice holiday to Rome for herself and her musician mates.
Treasurer Sem 1
Mairead is our treasurer for semester 1.
A Kerry native and don’t you forget that. She’s responsible for embezzling dollahs from everyone, managing the accounts and ultimately deciding who gets what.
Outside of medicine, Mairead loves boys and chicken wings and the smell of boys. Her life motto is “A friend in need is a pest indeed”, basically she’s an absolute sass queen.
Treasurer Sem 2
Craig is a Galway man to the core. He likes to keep things simple, straightforward and concise...
Making him the perfect fit for treasurer semester 2.
Princess Leah is our Ent’s officer this year. Her role is to make sure we’re all having bundles of fun and to entertain us with all her fun puns.
She is the main coordinator of big events such as MedBall, Masquerade Ball as well as smaller ongoing nights like wine and cheese, pizza & movie nights, and many more!
Her life motto is “Remember to take life with a grain of salt, a slice of lime and a shot of tequila”.
She has the amazing ability to work an apundance of puns into a sentence and she loves the smell of freshly ground coffee.
Lorcán Ó Maoileanniagh
Lorcan is our Outreach Officer.
His role is to organise charity events throughout the year. He's responsible for informing our members of our associated charities and to keep a working relationship with medically orientated charitable societies such as MSF, VSA, Sláinte Soc etc.
His life motto is "Just Keep Swimming" and if he could be any fictional character he would be Baloo from the jungle book. He also has an embarrassingly low alcohol tolerance.
Matt is this year’s sports officer.
A proud Sligo man, Matt loves rugby and Medsoc and if it has to choose between either of them, it’s always a tough shout. His role is to organize events of a sporty nature a.k.a preventative cardiology.
His main aim is to set up a Med Rugby Team to compete against other colleges.
He is also the smaller half of a set of twins (he prefers not to talk about that and compensates by wearing XS t-shirts).
His childhood hero is Derek Mooney.
This girl is all about the goss.
She keeps you updated with all the happenings of Medsoc. Upcoming events, interesting articles, you name it, you’ll see it in our newsletter!
She describes herself as a fun-sized sassbag, has a fear of cheese and her life motto is “Be Cool”.
AMSI Representative 1
Kevin or “Jane Ahroo” as he’s better known as, is one half of our dynamic duo of AMSI reps. He will represent NUIG on the board of AMSI, helping to coordinate and organise events with other medical schools and bring ourselves and our future colleagues closer together.
However, his main role on Medsoc is to cause arguments (his words not mine).
His biggest fear would be to have to leave AMSI at some point in the future and his ideal date would be a Netflix and Chill kinda night.
One song on the soundtrack of his life is "Let It Go".
AMSI Representative 2
Alie is the other half of our AMSI team.
Like Kev, she will work towards bringing the medical schools of Ireland together through some great events and trips.
Aside from this, she’s also the team’s Mammy!
She describes herself as old beyond her years and if she could be any fictional character she would be Minerva McGonagall (what a boss!).
A perfect date with this Galway gal? Walking the prom and eating chips from McDonaghs.
Ordinary Commitee Member
Conor "King" Costigan
Our very own King of the Castle;
He helps everyone with whatever they need help with and brings enthusiasm to the round table.
He travelled to Nigeria in summer '15, Nigeria is an African nation on the Gulf of Guinea and Conor is A-frican awesome OCM!
Your Pre-Clinical Representative is Aedín ladies and gentleman.
Her main role is to let everybody in the Pre-Clinical years that she is their representative but when she’s not doing that she’s helping Noz, help everybody else.
Aoife is one of our ACMs this year, which involves being around in semester 2 when the rest of the 4th meds head off on placement. She describes her role as being "indispensable".
She is passionate about coffee, has a fear of being early and her life motto is;
“Try to fit as many things into the day as you can."
This guy’s main role is to mess up as little as possible. He is another one of our little helper’s in Semester 2.
Coming to study in Ireland from Malaysia might seem daunting to most, but this guy has embraced the Irish culture. He is strongly opposed to water charges, and has coined his own hashtag on social media...
Batman is his absolute hero and "A head Full of Dreams" would be on the soundtrack of his life.
